Whammy Bar

When we break down the use of a whammy bar we find out that it is ridiculously easy!
We can pull the whammy bar up and we can push it down.

That’s it!

Obviously, there are a lot of tricks you can apply. Like Eddie van Halen’s monstrous Divebomb’s or Dimebag Darrell’s eerie Squeels.

But before we can get into those we first need to understand what out whammy bar actually does.

There are only 3 basic whammy bar movements with which you can alter your notes.
You can either push or pull:
1. Before the note
2. After the note
3. On the note

Watch the video below for a further explanation and demonstration!

Don’t forget that you can also adjust the tension on the springs of your whammy bar! That way you can change the number of pitches you can go up and down.

Now, let’s practice!
